Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
1. Introduction
At OneBox News, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our platform.
By using OneBox News, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including:
- Account information (name, email address, username, password)
- Profile information (bio, profile picture, social media links)
- Content you create (news articles, videos, comments)
- Communications with us (support messages, feedback)
- Payment and payout details. Card payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe) and we do not store your full card number; writers who request payouts provide a PayPal email address, which we do store to send earnings.
- Earnings and withdrawal data for writers (accrued revenue, payout requests, and related records)
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you use our platform, we automatically collect:
- Device information (IP address, browser type, operating system)
- Usage data (pages visited, time spent, features used)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies
- Analytics data (performance metrics, error logs)
- Security and traffic-quality signals from our network provider (Cloudflare), such as IP reputation and bot/automation indicators, used to detect fraudulent traffic
2.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from:
- Social media platforms (if you connect your accounts)
- Analytics providers
- Payment processors
- Other users who invite or share content with you
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Create and manage your account
- Process and deliver your content
- Generate AI avatars and videos based on your content
- Facilitate collaboration between writers and newsrooms
- Send you important updates and notifications
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Analyze usage patterns and improve user experience
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Comply with legal obligations
4. AI Features and Data Processing
We use artificial intelligence in several parts of the platform. Depending on the feature, your content may be processed to:
- Generate AI avatar videos and voice narration from your written content
- Provide in-editor writing assistance (such as review, rewriting, and content suggestions)
- Moderate comments and content for safety, and assess content quality
- Power our in-product help assistant, which may log your questions to improve support
To deliver these features we use third-party AI providers, currently OpenAI (text processing, assistance, and moderation) and HeyGen (avatar video generation). Your content may be temporarily transmitted to and processed by these providers.
We do not permit these providers to use your content to train their models, and we implement safeguards to protect your content during AI processing. You retain all rights to your original content and AI-generated outputs.
5. How We Share Your Information
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
5.1 With Your Consent
We share information when you explicitly authorize us to do so, such as when you publish content publicly or share articles with your network.
5.2 Service Providers
We work with third-party service providers who help us operate our platform, including:
- Cloud hosting and content delivery (DigitalOcean, Cloudflare)
- AI and machine learning services (OpenAI, HeyGen)
- Authentication providers (Google, for optional sign-in)
- Payment and payout processors (Stripe, PayPal)
- Email and communication services (Resend)
These providers may only process your information on our behalf and under contractual obligations. Our list of third-party providers may change over time; the current list is available on request.
5.5 Social Media Publishing
Where you or your newsroom choose to publish content to connected social platforms (such as Instagram), the content and associated media are shared with that platform and become subject to its own privacy practices.
5.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect our rights and property
- Prevent fraud or abuse
- Protect the safety of users and the public
5.4 Business Transfers
If OneBox News is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Writer Earnings and Advertising
Writers can earn money based on the readership their articles attract. To operate this program, we record article view events (including for logged-out visitors, identified by a device identifier or IP address) and associate them with the relevant article and writer. We use this data to calculate earnings and to detect invalid or fraudulent traffic.
We do not currently display third-party advertising on the platform. If we enable advertising in the future, third-party ad networks may set cookies and collect device and usage information (such as your IP address and pages viewed) to serve and measure ads, governed by their own privacy policies, and we will update this policy and seek any consent required by law beforehand.
7. Automated Decisions and Fraud Detection
We use automated processes to protect the integrity of our platform and our earnings program. In particular:
- We automatically assess article views using traffic-quality signals (such as IP reputation and bot/automation indicators) to decide whether a view is genuine and counts toward writer earnings.
- When a writer requests a payout, we generate an automated fraud-risk assessment based on their activity and view history.
Payout decisions are not fully automated: a human operator reviews flagged requests before they are approved or declined. If you believe a decision about your views or earnings is incorrect, you can contact us to request human review using the details in the "Contact Us" section.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest
- Secure authentication and access controls
- Regular security audits and monitoring
- Employee training on data protection
- Incident response procedures
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide our services to you
- Comply with legal obligations
- Resolve disputes
- Enforce our agreements
Certain records are kept for fixed periods regardless of account deletion — in particular, payment, payout, and earnings records, which we retain for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically several years).
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, unless we are required to retain it by law.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
8.1 Access and Portability
You can access and download your personal information and content from your account settings.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling certain cookies may limit functionality. Where required by law (for example, in the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, such as analytics cookies (and advertising cookies, if advertising is enabled in the future), and you can withdraw that consent at any time through our cookie consent tool.
12. Children's Privacy
OneBox News is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the minimum age to consent to processing without parental authorization may be higher (up to 16, depending on your country). Where a higher local age applies, we require users to meet that age or to have parental consent.
If you believe we have collected information from a child under the applicable age, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
13. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. These countries may have different data protection laws.
When we transfer your information internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through our platform.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- We may notify you via email or platform notification for significant changes
- Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
